A behavioural intervention to reduce persistence of bacterial vaginosis among women who report sex with women: results of a randomised trial

by:KISSTOY     2021-04-29
Objective bacterial vaginal diseases (BV)
It is common among lesbians that up to 28% of treatment fails.
Risks include the transmission of vaginal fluid.
The authors measured the effectiveness of behavioral intervention in reducing vaginal fluid transfer between female sexual partners in reducing BV persistence.
Methods a 16-35 year-old BV female who had sex with a female (prior year)were eligible.
Participants were randomly intervened (
Incentive interviews designed to reduce vaginal fluid sharing on hand or sex toys
Treatment by providing condoms, gloves and waterBase lubricant)or control (
Science and Technology Innovation Education)arms.
All patients were treated with vaginal drip and had a computer test. assisted self-
Determine sexual behavior by testingof-Cure for 30 days
Results of 129 patients with BV, 108 (84%)were eligible; 89 (69%)
Agree to sign up.
Forty-three cases were randomly controlled and 46 cases were intervened; 81 (91%)
Test return-of-cure.
BV insists on 12 (27. 9%)
43 women and 8 women involved in the intervention (21. 1%)
Of the 38 women in arms control (p1/40. 6). Digital-
Vaginal sex is common aftertreatment (
50% intervention and 68% control);
Women who receive intervention at random are unlikely to report acceptance figures
Vaginal sex without gloves than control (31% vs 61%; p1/40. 01)
Other sexual behaviors are reported to be less frequent.
Shared vaginal use of sex toys is not common.
Conclusion although the intervention significantly increased the use of gloves during the digital period
Sex after vagina
BV treatment, which is not related to the reduction of BV persistence.
Common use of vaginal sex toys is not common, suggesting that other mechanisms promote BV for lesbian sex.
