On a snowy Friday in November 2014, Joanne Curry received a phone call from her mobile phone.
"You were chosen.
Just the moment she waited with her husband, Dwayne von spreken --hoping for —for two years.
Four hours later, they held their son Jacob.
A day without the present will not pass19-month-
The old man was told how much he admired.
Like any parent, Currie and Von Sprecken love their children very much.
The living room in front of them is a variety of playgrounds: a large green playroom, bright red plastic cars and toy muqin are toys scattered on the floor.
"I'm sure all parents have the pleasure of being parents, but when you wait so long to have children, curriesays says:" There is a child that you appreciate every day, this is a kind of gratitude. ".
When Currie and Von Sprecken talk about their son, the word "gratefulness" is often spoken out.
Not only did they have him, but the sacrifices made by his mother.
In Alberta, there are 10 days to change their minds.
Von spoenken said he and his wife could not imagine leaving Jacob until the eighth day.
"We really appreciate how hard this decision is for her, fundamentally cutting off her arm and saying, 'here --
"I gave up a part of me because I wanted to give him something different," he said . ".
The couple has been trying to have children for seven years but has not succeeded.
When the test tube babies did not accept it, they turned to adoption.
The most difficult part for von spoken and Corey is not when a child is theirs, but if it does happen.
In Alberta, private adoption like them is an open adoption in which the birth mother chooses the family where the child is located.
So there is no guarantee.
"We're just trying to keep our feet moving and live a normal life," Von Sprecken said . ".
Instead of sitting at home and waiting, they prepared the baby room, instead of taking a vacation, staying busy and trying to keep a positive attitude.
Currie notes that waiting is by far the biggest obstacle in her adoption support group.
"It puts pressure on the family.
"Wait, don't know, and most importantly, they want a child in their lives," she explains . ".
Plus the anxiety of infertility
Many couples have been dealing with it for years.
It can test the strongest relationship.
Public adoption is the norm in Alberta.
This was signed up by Currie and Von Sprecken, but they were more than a year away from Jacob's birth mother who thought they would call her.
On April, they met with her and some of her family.
"She saw that he had a good grasp and that was one of the things she wanted to know --
"How is he doing? he's OK," Curry said . " They had to see for themselves that he was great, great, perfect.
They want the relationship to continue, and Jacob's birth mother can be the one they know when their children grow up.
All in all, Jacob's parents wanted him to understand where he came from.
The couple plans to make an album that includes photos of their son in the arms of a hospital-born mother and has spoken to a friend's child about Jacob's adoption.
Currie said: "It will be his story and it will be very real . . . . . . Then there is no room for explanation . ".
"He does not have to guess or doubt.
He knew it.
