The link charge, transmitted from a separate room to Boyle's criminal trial, is just one of the many examples of physical and emotional abuse and threats she testified to have experienced, the couple were held together during and after forced confinement.
The 35-year-old Boyle pleaded not guilty to criminal charges against Coleman, including attacks, sexual assault and illegal imprisonment.
The couple was detained by extremists on a backpack trip to Central Asia on 2012, released by Pakistani commandos and returned to Canada on 2017.
Their stories as hostages and released made international headlines.
The 33-year-old Coleman, who gave birth to three children while being redeemed in Afghanistan, described her post in a court in Ottawa
The life of captivity made her feel frightened, humiliated, and forced to abide by the strict rules of Boyle --

Coleman said she began to cry and begged him to untie her.
He replied that he would let her go as long as she lied quietly for 30 minutes.
She said his words made her feel "very similar" to what she felt when she was human ".

Coleman also described another incident where she claimed that he held her down in an attempt to force her to anal sex and he hit her in the face when she resisted.
