Beijing: 18 police officers have recently struggled in a river for an hour trying to retrieve the body that was originally mistaken for a woman. But in Wendeng, East China's Shandong province, the toy turned out to be an inflatable toy.
The toy was designed and sized very similar to the body of an adult woman and police had to take action, officials said.
Shandong is an important base for the production of sex toys in China and is available all over the world.
Police efforts attracted crowds of onlookers who blocked traffic on a bridge last week.
Earlier, a Chinese TV channel reported a "mysterious mushroom" that was also shown to be a sex toy in Xi'an.
"As we all can see, it looks like a fungus, and at both ends of it you will find the Mushroom Head," a reporter said in the camera.
"On this side you can see the look of a pair of lips.
"The channel was forced to apologize after Chinese internet sites and blogs were attacked.
"Please forgive our negligence," the channel said . "
"Because our reporter is still young and unwise, this report has caused great inconvenience to everyone.
