For nearly two years, a father and daughter have been sharing the journey of transition from mother and son.
Eric Maison, 39, began a social transformation in the fall of 2015 to become a male, after his 15-year-old daughter, Cory, began hormone therapy and became a female.
Maison's medical transformation began in 2016.
"Corey's bravery definitely inspires me to be transgender," said Maison, a Detroit resident in Michigan . ".
"It makes me very proud to see how brave she is, even though the world sometimes shows her all the cruelty.
I think I can do it if she can.
ABC News and Maison, June 2016 (
Then his name is Erica)
Share the story with her daughter Corrie about a transgender teenager and her message against bullying.
The 14-year-old Corey was born with the same name, but was assigned to a male at birth.
In last June, Maison said Corey had been identified as a woman since she was two years old.
Corey said she was inspired by transgender activist Jennings to see a therapist help her transition from a boy to a girl.
Jennings was assigned male when she was born, and she starred in the TLC reality TV series "I Am Jazz", which recorded her life as a transgender youth.
Corey wrote to ABC News on June: "We are not a threat . "
"We are like other children.
We only want people to accept and love us because of who we are.
"Maison said in June that Corey was bullied when she was young because of transgender people.
The first incident was when a child pushed her down a hill covered with frozen ice, injuring Corey's face.
Maison said that in the end, Corey was transferred to another school because of bullying.
At that time, the boys did not speak to Corrie.
Today, they have accepted her as one of their peers.
Now Eric Maison is sharing his journey and even though he is now a male, he will still be taken away by his mother.
Eric Maison was designated female at birth.
He told ABC News today that he always knew he was a male.
Like his daughter, Maison, who watched ABC's 2012 "20/20" special on Jennings, learned "what transgendered people mean," he said ".
In 2007, Eric Maison married her husband, Les Maison.
The couple had five children: 22-year-old Chelsea, 15-year-old Corey, 14-year-old Kelly, nine-year-old Alan and six-year-old Willo.
While he loves his children, Eric Maison doesn't like to get pregnant, he says.
"It's hard to be uncomfortable in my own body, but I don't understand why," Eric Maison said . ".
"Especially when someone tells me how beautiful I am or they want to be the same as my body.
I always want to have a different body.
Les Maison, 53, told ABC News that Eric Maison came to him a year and a half ago.
"My first reaction was a little surprised," said Les Maison . ".
"On the one hand, I am very happy, 'we are gone, and someone can live like them.
On the other hand, how does this affect myself, our relationship and my family?
"Les Maison said he had no doubt that Eric Maison was transgender, except for certain things he would say before the transition. "[He]
"I hope I 've just had breast cancer so I can have a double mastectomy," recalled Les Maison . ".
"There are no indicators other than he hates big breasts.
There's one-

, But it all seems to make sense at this point. "On Feb.
Eric Maison, 21, underwent a double mastectomy.
"I'm glad I had breast implants and am taking hormones," Eric Maison said . ".
"I feel like the huge weight is lifted up like I carry the weight of the world and now I'm free.
"Eric Maison's surgery was performed by Loren Schechter, director of plastic surgery for the sex confirmation surgery program at Chicago's Wes Memorial Hospital, Illinois.
"The operation was as smooth as expected and he recovered well," Schechter told ABC News . ".
"The top surgery is not just for people who think they are men.
This also applies to people who think they are not gender or gender neutral.
Usually, when people are in public, they put these tight compression packs on their chests to hide their breasts.
Their goal is to take a walk on the beach, in the swimming pool or at home without a coat.
This is the root cause of fidgety if they have breasts, which makes it difficult or impossible for them to do it.
Schechter says he wants "standards of care "(SOC)
Established by the World Association of trans-gender health professionals before performing a sex confirmation operation on a person.
These programs include providing primary care, hormone therapy, mental health services, voice and communication therapy, and additional assistance prior to the patient's transition to surgery.
Eric Maison is considered a good candidate based on this SOC, Schechter said. "Much of the [SOC]
"It is designed to make individuals aware of all the options that are open to them," he added . ".
"From the perspective of family, friends, work, what is the social impact?
This is to guide them through the process and help them make the transition to ensure that people are exploring and considering their options.
"As for Les Maison, he is pleased that Eric Maison has taken steps to live a real life and supports decision 100%.
"If nothing else, our relationship will become stronger and better," he said . ".
"In terms of the problem, the biggest misconception is [is]
Did this make me gay?
No, it's not.
Gender is the identity of you sleeping.
Who you go to bed with is a completely different sexual tendency.
He had top surgery.
He is not going to have surgery.
"Even if he did, we decided a long time ago that we would do the job well no matter what happened," added Les Maison . ".
"We decided that no matter which road is in front of us, we will go down this road together.
In my opinion, the only people who have to be happy are the people in my family and the people we care about, and the people in our close circle of friends and family.
When asked about his hopes for the future, les Masson said he most wanted Corey and Eric Masson to be accepted.
"They have more courage than I do," he said . "
"It takes a lot of time to live out of social norms as who you are or at least as you think you are.
This is not the choice they are making.
That's how they were born.
Education is very important.
If you can educate yourself, then the lack of knowledge will become knowledge.
Eric Maison said he was grateful that his husband loved him as much as his five children. -
In particular, Corey knows what her mom is going through. "[Corey]
"She said she understood what it was like to live in the wrong body and thanked me so much for being able to transition to the right body that is consistent with my gender identity," Eric Maison said . ".
"What I am most looking forward to is to continue the second half of my life, following my real life and living as my real self," he added . ".
"For anyone who is afraid to come out, please talk to someone you can trust.
Find support groups locally or online.
People like me will help you and protect you.
"ABC News can't find data on how common the multiplayer transition is in a family.
