James Gley, an innovative guitarist who helped shape the multi-layered structure of psychedelic rock, sometimes with thunderous voices, is a member of the Big Brother and the holding company, damn a heart attack. He was 69.
The band announced on its website that Gurley was pronounced dead at Palm Springs hospital on Sunday, two days before his 70 th birthday.

Gurley was hailed by many as the original innovator of sound.

Melton said on Thursday: "Playing contemporaries is trying to have their own voice, but I think James has a huge impact on all of us because he is not afraid to break the boundaries of traditional music.
"What people think about this type of music is that it takes you to where you just assumed the beat and takes the whole thing to another place, which James started.
"Doing things like using an electric vibrator on a guitar as a slide show, picking up the amp and shaking them in the show, Gurley made a loud sound, this is the driving force behind Joplin's sound in classic songs like Ball & Chain, part of my heart and summer.
"Some of the innovations were the result of his coming from a progressive bluegrass music school, where the odd was encouraged," said Peter Albin, the group's bass player.
Gurley is one of the few rock guitarists who use finger picks instead of flat picks, and he taught himself by listening to old Lakelin Hopkins blues records in his teens.
In 1965, he played the acoustic guitar in a cafe in San Francisco, when Chet Helms, the founder of the legendary anti-mainstream cultural figure and family dog commune, introduced him to other band members.
Although Joplin will be a public image of the band when she joins the band in 1966, Albin recalls that Gley is the real power of nature and she introduces alternative lifestyles to other members, psychedelic medicine and music innovation.
"He had a big impact on the whole band very early, and even later, he was just as someone with a strange taste and playing guitar in a very strange way, Albin told The Associated Press.
Albin said he lived in a walking place when he first met gewhen.
In the closet with his wife and young son, he told him that before that, he lived in a cardboard house on the coast of California and lived with the indigenous people in the mountains of Mexico, he attended the religious ceremony of illusion.
After Joplin left the Big Brother in 1968, the group disbanded, but later reformed and continued until today.
However, after falling out with other members, Gurley left forever at the end of 1990.
Gary, born in Detroit in 1939, is the son of a stunt man.

After leaving the Big Brother, he lived quietly in the Palm Desert and occasionally did some projects alone.
He released the album Daydream in 2000.
