KITCHENER—
Server Jill Coture, who works for a restaurant owner, beat her at work, poked her or pinched her repeatedly, or flick her arm or elbow.
That's what the criminal court found.
But Coture said in a sexual harassment complaint that her bad boss was doing worse.
The 46-year-old Coture claims that the 31-year-old Criss Voulcaridis grabbed her right breast twice and she had to hit him.
She claimed that he patted her back with an open hand.
She claimed that he asked to know if he had caught her attention.
She claims that he asked her to bring a vibrator to work so he could watch her use the vibrator in the bathroom.
She claimed that he had been trying to untie her bra and told her that he wanted to have sex with her, talked about his penis and said, "You and I will have children together.
"She became very uncomfortable, no longer using the staff bathroom next to his office, but using the public restroom of the business next door.
"It's just a bad place to work.
"The atmosphere is terrible," said Coture.
"You go on the eggshells.
After four months in 2016, Coture resigned.
Later, Voulcaridis closed his restaurant, the Kettle of Ayr's father Joe, and then went back to work at his father's country boy restaurant.
His father, Terry, says his son is no longer working for country boys.
Coture asked him for $50,000 in her sexual harassment complaint to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.
Her allegations were not confirmed there.
But the Ontario court has tested Voulcaridis.
On December, after a prosecutor removed the sexual elements from the charges against him, he acknowledged the attack on Coture and two other female servers.
The judge, who accepted the plea, praised him as "a man of good character", fined him $300 and gave him a conditional release.
If he had acted for nine months, it would have kept him away from prison with no criminal record.
"I don't think justice has been done at all," Coture said . ".
In court, she was shocked to hear the judge praise her former boss.
But she did not regret the complaint against him, which led to criminal prosecution and to a human rights case, which is now being resolved and is recovering.
"I don't want other people to be victims," Coture said . ".
She seeks compensation for emotional injuries, pain and loss of wages.
Voulcaridis did not respond to a call for comment.
"He denies the allegations and will defend them in court," said his lawyer Darrell hollyak . ".
"Given that it is in court, that is where it has to be dealt.
"Coture found a job as a new server shortly after she resigned.
She was very happy there.
Her experience and its consequences plunged her into the # metoo campaign to expose the bad behavior of male bosses.
In court, she heard arguments between the female prosecutor and the male judge about the ongoing liquidation of the bad behavior of powerful men.
When her sexual harassment complaint became news, she said she was attacked online because she was too old and too fat to be sexually harassed.
"It's disturbing that people make judgments so quickly," she said . ".
"I also understand why women don't stand up, just because they are humiliated, blamed and attacked.
