Boots are in talks with a condom manufacturer, "to meet modern needs," selling sex toys in some of its 1,400 stores.
The high street pharmacy chain says it has had a year-long discussion about the sale of Durex's Game series, including vibrators and massage oils.
The move is a departure from the conservative image of piracy as a home store.
For years, the retailer has refused to sell condoms on grounds that it would offend employees and customers.
