The squash tournament in northern Spain has been attacked for awarding a "gender discrimination" award to top female athletes.
In addition to the trophy, the asurias tournament also presented sex toys, dewaxed and electronic foot files to top players, resulting in the resignation of players and responsible club officials.
Elisabet Sado, the competition champion who won the Vibrator Award, told the BBC that "things have to change ".
"We were very surprised and shocked.
"We think this is very discriminatory," Sado said . ".
Women ranked second, third and fourth received electronic foot profiles or depilated wax.
Male players don't get any extra prizes while they get the trophy.
The female athletes sent a letter to the Royal Spanish Squash Federation, including illegal prizes, which led the federation to accept their case.
"We want to explain to everyone because we think. . .
There is a lot of discrimination. . .
Things have to change, "said Sado.
Almudena Cueto, director of the Asturia Women's College, met the four players after they returned the trophy.
"They returned the gift and decided to make a formal complaint that such a thing would never happen.
What happened was shameful.
"It makes us speechless," Cueto said . ".
Maribel Toyos, spokesman for the Asuri Yas Squash Federation, told the Spanish newspaper El Pais that "we don't know these women will receive these gifts", adding that the prizes are "high levels of gender discrimination ".
The squash club has now issued an apology: "We understand this response and deeply regret this unacceptable incident," President Nacho Manzano and acting President Barbara Fair
Under pressure from the federation, club officials, including mansano, have stepped down.
Manzano later said: "We are very ashamed of what happened, we know that the gift is not appropriate, but we never have the intention to offend anyone.
