The student accused of murdering her British roommate said in court Friday that she was innocent and was sure the truth would come out.
Amanda Knox made her first public statement after the arrest of Meredith Kutcher.
Knox spoke in court because an acquaintance testified that she had been indifferent for hours after Kercher was found dead on November. 2, 2007.
"I'm innocent," Knox said . "

The old Italian, who was her boyfriend, was on trial for murder and sexual violence.
They denied wrongdoing.
Knox did not mention that she did not show pain after Kercher's death, nor did she mention her relationship with the victim.
On the contrary, Knox said in a casual, almost amused tone that she wanted to explain the existence of sex toys --a pink rabbit-

In Perugia's house, she lives with Kercher.
Witnesses said Kercher was upset about a bag containing condoms and vibrators that Knox had placed in the bathroom.
"It's a joke," Knox said in court . "
"This is a gift from a friend before I came to Italy," she said . ".
She motioned the size of the toy with her hand, and Chief Justice Giancarlo masshi translated the toy into about 4 inch long.
At the hearing, witnesses said Knox did not show any pain, and after Kercher's body was found, he hugged Sollecito at the police station while waiting for questioning.
Robin Carmel Butterworth, a prosecution witness and a friend of the victims, said in this crowded court in the Umm Bryan university town that shortly after the bloody body of Meredith Kercher was found, she's just waiting with a few students to work with Perugia.
"I found Amanda's behavior very strange and I found it difficult to be around her," batworth said . ".
"Everyone was upset and she didn't seem to show any emotion.
We are all crying.
I didn't see her crying . "
She said Knox and solicito were running around while they were waiting.
"I remember Amanda sticking out her tongue in Raphael," batworth said in English, and her testimony was translated into court.
"They are chatting, joking, kissing and hugging.
Another witness, also at the police station, Amy Frost, said Knox was "making faces", such as crossing his eyes and sticking out his tongue.
Frost said she kissed solicito "giggling.

Both Knox and solicito attended a police-escorted trial and were jailed shortly after the police found Kercher's body.
Sollecito told the court at an earlier hearing that he was a victim of judicial error.
Witnesses testified Friday how they learned about Kercher's death and what Knox and Sollecito said at the police station.
According to Butterworth, Knox said, "How do you feel about me? I found her.
She quoted Knox as saying that Kercher was "in a closet covered with blankets ".
According to Butterworth, "Knox once said Kercher" bled to death.
Hayward also quoted Knox as saying that Kercher would "die slowly, very painful ".
"Kercher was found stabbed in her neck under the quilt in her bedroom.
Friday's witness lineup, a British woman with Kercher as a friend, also talked about the problematic relationship between Kercher and Knox.
Some people burst into tears as they recalled their friends.
Many witnesses said Kercher was frustrated because Knox did not keep the bathroom clean.
Knox's father, Kurt Knox, said Friday's hearing was largely based on "ideas and opinions that can be changed ".
"If this is the prosecution case, that's fine," he told The Associated Press on the suspension of the hearing.
He said she cried when Knox learned of Meredith's death, but when she arrived at the police station she spent hours figuring out how she felt.
"Everyone will react differently when they are extremely nervous," he said . ".
"There is no correct way to react.
He said his daughter said the vibrator was a joke and wanted the jury to know that she was not a promiscuous young lady.
Prosecutors say Kercher is a reluctant object in a violent sex game.
Francesco Maresca, representing the Kercher family, said Friday's testimony about Knox was consistent.

Sollecito insisted that he was in Perugia's own apartment and could not remember if Knox had spent part of the murder or the whole evening with him.
Knox initially told investigators that when Kercher was killed, she was in the house, covering the victim's screams with her ears.
Knox later said she was not there.
A third resident of Côte d'Ivoire National Rudy Herman goodperugia was convicted last year of the same charge and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Guede denies wrongdoing and has requested and received a quick reporttrack trial.
The trial continued on Saturday.
