The British Commissioner for Children says Amazon should make sure they don\'t resume selling \"disgusting\" child sex dolls on its platform after a BBC survey found them on its platform.
About a dozen children\'s sex dolls have been found on the Amazon market for sale.
After the BBC contacted Amazon for a doll, it was removed, but it returned to the site three days later.
Amazon says it has now removed all specific products that the BBC has brought to its attention.
Amazon said in a statement: \"All market sellers must follow our sales guidelines and those who do not comply will be subject to actions including potential account deletion.
Related products are no longer available.
In response to the BBC\'s investigation, British Commissioner for Children Anne Longfield said: \"These dolls are disgusting and look obvious to be like children.
\"Not only do I have the right, as a children\'s commissioner, to expect big companies like Amazon to not only remove these products from their platforms, but to explain why they were there in the first place, and make sure they can\'t be reloaded after being removed.
\"This doll is clearly built for a purpose that is a clear danger to the safety of real children,\" she added . \".
British border forces have detained 179 children.
Like the sex dolls that have been part of the Shiraz operation since March 2016, this is a special operation jointly established with the National Criminal Agency.
On July 2017, a judge ruled that children\'s sex dolls were obscene objects and were therefore covered by the Customs Administration Act 1979.
However, it is not a criminal offence to make or own a child\'s sex toy: an individual can only be accused of importing it.
The Amazon market is an area of retail sites where third-party businesses can sell products.
Instead of selling products, Amazon itself gets money from sellers.
The dolls found on the website are usually three or 4 feet high and the waist size is about 16 inch (41cm).
In the attached photos, they are placed in sexy poses with descriptions such as \"mannequin sexy\" and \"100% imitating the girl\'s body.
Several dolls are described as \"sexy underwear \".
A couple from Durham were shocked to find that they had a child sex toy in the results of their online search for sex toys.
\"We felt sick and we reported it to Amazon right away,\" they told the BBC . \".
The couple did not receive a response from the retailer 24 hours later.
NSPCC warns that using dolls can cause people to hurt children.
They are designed to be as realistic as possible, made of silicone material, weighing as much as children.
These dolls are made in such a way that they can be sexually manipulated.
Almudena Lara, policy head of the children\'s charity NSPCC, highlighted the dangers that children\'s sex dolls may pose to children.
She told the BBC: \"We already know that people who use these dolls may become numb and their behavior may become normal, thus continuing to hurt children, just as people who watch indecent images of children on the Internet often encounter situations.
\"There is absolutely no evidence that the use of dolls can prevent potential child abuse.
\"Until legal loopholes are removed to make it illegal to manufacture, sell or distribute these dolls, retailers such as Amazon should refuse to sell these despicable dolls,\" she said . \".
