Abstract objective: to investigate the association between self-reported high-risk behaviors and subsequent diagnosis of hepatitis C virus (HCV)infection.
Methods: Sex, Health, resistance
Project on antiretroviral drugs (SHARP)
Is a cross-sectional study of HIV-positive, male sexual behavior that has sex with men (MSM)
Go to an Clinic in London.
From July 17, 1999 to August 2000, participants completed the computer-assisted self-interview questionnaire (CASI)
Detailed reports on recent sexual behavior, recreational drug use and the last two sexual behaviors involving different partners.
Results were combined with routine clinical data as of April 21, 2005 and subsequent HCV testing.
The new diagnosis of HCV is defined as-
After the previous negative, the serum conversion or positive of HCV antibody.
Rate of events (IRR)
Using Poisson regression calculation in Stata (version 9).
Men have a time risk from interview to diagnosis or final negative test results.
Results: Of the 422 men who completed the questionnaire, 308 (73%)
Sufficient clinical and HCV test data are available for analysis.
11 men were infected with hepatitis C virus.
Unprotected anal sex has more than 30 personality partners in the past year, and there are more new anal sex partners, rimming (oro-anal sex)
Sexual intercourse, the use of sexual toys and the use of nasal recreational drugs are related to hepatitis C virus.
In multivariate analysis, only fisting and HCV (adjusted IRR 6. 27, pu200a=u200a0. 005).
Conclusion: In this study of HIV-positive men having sex with men, fisting is closely related to HCV infection.
When individuals report high-risk sex, clinicians should provide appropriate testing for HCV infection.
